Computer Monitor Size Comparison (Chart)

Let’s talk a bit about computer monitor size comparison and a few charts to explain them to you in a more visual way.

It should be 14″ in the US and 13.3″ in Asia. There’s no such a thing as a standard laptop size.

The 15inches come with 104 keys but are mainly for business usage. In that case, we call the 14inches standard size with 84–89 keys because it does not matter if you don’t need to use the keyboard for lots of mathematical inputs.

If your laptop is smaller than 14in, it’s called a SubNotebook in America. In Asia, they’re a little slimmer, so they prefer 13in.

In addition to that, there are a few other reasons:

  • The laptop must have 4 USB ports, VGA, HDMI/DP (Corporate PC Preferred), Optical Disc, in/out jack, SD Card, Smartcard Reader, and a swappable battery since the first users of Laptops were businessmen.
  • Even Fujitsu can’t put more than four USBs in their laptop under 14″. This rule worked before Ultrabooks became popular.

Here are a few standard laptop sizes. Sizes based on screen size, not overall dimensions.

In comparison to the rest, 13.3″, 15.4″, and 17″ laptops are more common.

The most popular sizes of laptops are 15.4, 15.6, 13.3, and 17. The 15.4 and 15.6 have the greatest variety.

Frequently Asked Questions about Monitor Size

What is the best desktop monitor size?

The screen size depends mainly on its resolution and how near you are to it.

1080p should be avoided when using larger than 25-inch; 1440p is ideal for 27-inch, and 4K is great for 27-inch to 43-inch, depending on preference.

Is a 24-inch monitor big enough?

If you want a 22-inch monitor but have limited space or are on a budget, that may be the one you can get.

Nonetheless, you should always consider a 24-inch, 1080p display for the very best gaming experience.

How do I choose a monitor size?

Like TVs, monitors are measured in diagonals. As the size goes up, usually so does the price. Keep an eye out for space as well as your budget.

Is a 32-inch monitor too big for office work?

If you have room, you can adjust the desk. If you’re right next to the monitor, it won’t be big enough.

I’ve found that 27″ is the sweet spot, otherwise, you’re sitting further back.

How far should you sit from a 27-inch monitor?

A 27″ 1440p or QHD gaming monitor would be best viewed from about 80cm to one meter.

When sitting too close, your FOV will not cover the whole screen. Then, you will be distracted by individual pixels, as well as fatigued from constantly moving your head.

Is 4K overkill for 27 inches?

If your 27-inch screen is 4K, it looks tiny, so stuff like games and youtube videos might make you squint too hard.

Getting a 32-inch 4K would be much better if you want the extra pixels while 1440p is a much better resolution for this size.
